ACCEPTING SEALED BIDS CARTER CENTER POOL INFILL CONCORD UNIVERSITY ATHENS, WV NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT Concord University will accept sealed bids for the Pool Infill located in the Carter Center on the campus of Concord University, Athens, WV. Sealed bids will be received by the Purchasing Department at Concord University, 1000 Vermillion Street, Athens, WV 24712 until 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at which time all sealed bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after that time will be returned to the bidder unopened. Concord University will be receiving bids to fill in the existing pool and constructing a new reinforced concrete slab over the filled in void. The space will ultimately be used as a new indoor athletic training facility and located in the Carter Center on Concord University’s Campus Beautiful. The pool infill will be bid as alternate methods. The base bid will fill the pool void with EPS Geofoam, a lightweight, geosynthetic fill material that is strong and has a very low density. The foam may be a combination of large blocks and sheets. There will be two alternates, one to fill the void with stone and the other to fill the void with an approved soil fill material. The contractor will be responsible for all aspects of filling the pool void and constructing a new reinforced concrete slab as part of the work, including protecting the existing building and site conditions. The new slab will be covered with a synthetic turf material under a separate contract id. All work to be accomplished in accordance with the drawings and specifications prepared by E.T. Boggess Architect, Inc. All bids must be enclosed in sealed envelope bearing the name “Carter Center Pool Infill.” Faxed bids will not be accepted. Bids may be mailed or delivered to Andrea Webb, Director of Purchasing, Concord University, 1000 Vermillion Street PO Box 1000, Athens, WV 24712 if received prior to bid date. A pre-bid meeting will be held in the Carter Center, Concord University, Athens, WV on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. All general contractors bidding the project are encouraged to attend the meeting to familiarize themselves with the project location, site conditions and other relevant information. Bidders on this work will be required to comply with the President’s Executive Order No. 11246 which prohibits discrimination in employment with regards to race, creed, color, sex, or national origin. Bidders must comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Contract Work Hours and Safety Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the West Virginia Code 21-1D-5 requiring a Drug Free Workplace. Any and all construction must be in conformance with all applicable state and federal regulations. Pursuant to Chapter 21-Article 11 of the “West Virginia Contractor Licensing Act” of 1991, all Contractors doing business in West Virginia must be licensed to perform work in the State, the Contractors WV License number must be affixed to all submitted construction bids and fully executed and binding construction contracts and agreements. All bidders will be required to certify, indicate and acknowledge that he he has all appropriate licenses and meets all qualifications required by the laws, regulations, and ordinances of the State of West Virginia, Mercer County, and Concord University. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, executed by the Bidder and an acceptable Surety, in an amount equal to 5% of the bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for a 100% Performance and Material Payment Bond in the amount of the bid and prior to entering into a contract. No Bid shall be waived or returned because the Bidder failed to or cannot comply with any requirements as set forth in the Plans, Specifications, or any applicable statutes of the United States, the State of West Virginia and r local ordinances.
