NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (Guyandotte United Methodist Church) Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after November 7, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to the TRUSTEES OF GUYANDOTTE METHODIST CHURCH all their rights, titles and interests in and to the following described lots or parcels of land, situate in Huntington-Gideon Corp., Cabell County, West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit: PARCEL ONE LOT NO. 3 in the plan of lots laid off in the addition to Guyandotte Town on the South side thereof and bounded as follows to wit: BEGINNING at a stake on the back street at the S. 2 corner of said Lot No. 3 thence N. 85 1/2 W. 10 poles with the N. line of an alley between said lot and Lot No. 4 on which ____ now lives to a stake thence N. 6 1/2 E. 6 poles with E. line of the alley between said lot and Lot no. 14 to a stake thence S. 82 1/2 E. 10 poles with the line of Lot No. 2 to a stake on the West line of the back street and with said street S. 6 1/2 W. 6 poles to the beginning. And being the same property conveyed from Robert Holderby and Susan Holderby to Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South by Deed dated January 25, 1848 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Cabell County, West Virginia in Deed Book 9, at Page 404, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL TWO ALL THAT certain lot, piece or parcel of land situated in the City of Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia known and designated on a map of the Southern Addition in the Town of Guyandotte (now a part of Huntington), a copy of which was filed in Surveyor’s Record No. 1, Page 232 in the year 1820-1821; a copy was filed in the Cabel County Clerk’s Office on 20 January 1927 in Map Book No. 2, Page 14, as a westerly portion of Lot No. 2, and being more particularly described as followed: BEGINNING at a point in the south line of Fifth Avenue, said point being the intersection of the said south line with the east line of a 16 1/2 foot alley, and being 165 feet westerly from the intersection of the said south line with the west line of Main Street; thence along said south line of Fifth Avenue N. 84 E. 79 feet to a point; thence, leaving said south line, S. 6 W. 30 feet to a point; thence ____ 84 W. 79 feet to a point in said east line of alley: thence along said east line N. 6 E. 30 feet to the point of beginning. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of the Guyandotte Methodist Church from Mae Sizemore and R. J. Sizemore, husband and wife, by Deed dated November 28, 1955, and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 513, at Page 176, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL THREE ALL THAT certain lot, piece or parcel of ground situate in that part of the City of Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, formerly known as the Town of Guyandotte and being the northerly one-half (1/2) of Lot Number Four (4) in the Southern Addition to the said Town of Guyandotte, a copy of the map of the said Southern Addition being filed in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Cabell County, West Virginia, in Map Book 2 as Map 14. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Guyandotte Methodist Church from James E. Grizzell and Addie Grizzell, his wife by Deed dated November 22, 1958 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 551, at Page 314, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL FOUR BEGINNING at the southwest corner of Fifth Avenue and Main Street; thence westerly along the south line of Fifth Avenue 86 feet to a point; thence southerly parallel with Main Street 30 feet to a point; thence easterly parallel with Fifth Avenue 86 feet to the west line of Main Street; thence with the west line of Main Street northerly 30 feet to the point of BEGINNING, and being a part of lot Number Two (2) as shown on the map or plat of the Southern Addition to the Town of Guyandotte which said map or plat is recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Cabell County, West Virginia, in Map Book No. 2 as Map No. l4. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Guyandotte Methodist Church of Huntington from Ashland Oil & Refining Company, a Kentucky Corporation, by Deed dated November 13, 1964 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 625, at Page 46, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL FIVE THE SOUTH THIRTY-SEVEN feet of Lot Number Two (2), as shown on the original plat of the said Town of Guyandotte, which said parcel of ground is more particularly bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the west line of Main Street where the North line of the M. E. Church, South, property intersects the same, thence westerly along with said church line 165 feet more or less to a point in the east line of an alley, thence northerly with the east line of said alley, thirty seven (37) feet to the south line of the City property, thence Easterly along and with South line of said City property, 165 feet more or less to a point in the west line of Main Street, and thence southerly along and with said west line of Main Street, thirty seven (37) feet to the point of beginning. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of the Guyandotte Methodist Church of Huntington from Blangid Trading Co., a West Virgnia Corporation, by Deed dated November 16, 1967 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 660, at Page 412, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL SIX A public alley running in an east and west direction between Guyan Street and Main Street, which said alley was abandoned as a public alley. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of the Guyandotte Methodist Church from City of Huntington, Cabell and Wayne Counties, West Virginia, a municipal corporation, by Deed dated July 5, 1974 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 741, at Page 276, reference to which is hereby made. SAID Guyandotte United Methodist Church was declared closed effective July 1, 2024 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
