AIR QUALITY PERMIT NOTICE Notice of Open Comment Period On August 2, 2024, Huntington Alloys Corporation applied to the WV Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Air Quality (DAQ) for an after-the-fact permit to construct and operate a two boilers at their existing facility located at 3200 Riverside Drive, Huntington, Cabell County, WV, at latitude 38.4125044o North and longitude -82.3841854o West. A preliminary evaluation has determined that all State and Federal air quality requirements will be met by the existing boilers. The DAQ is providing notice to the public of an open comment period for permit application R13-3687. The potential emissions from point sources that will be authorized by this permit action are: Particulate Matter less than 2.5 microns, 2.47 tons per year (TPY); Particulate Matter less than 10 microns, 2.47 tons per year (TPY); and Particulate Matter, 0.62 TPY; Oxides of Nitrogen, 22.48 TPY; Carbon Monoxide, 27.29 TPY; Sulfur Dioxide, 0.20 TPY; Volatile Organic Compounds, 1.79 TPY; Lead, 0.06 pounds per year; and Total Hazardous Air Pollutants, 0.62 TPY. Written comments or requests for a public meeting must be received by the DAQ before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025. A public meeting may be held if the Director of the DAQ determines that significant public interest has been expressed, in writing, or when the Director deems it appropriate. The purpose of the DAQ’s permitting process is to make a preliminary determination if the construction will meet all state and federal air quality requirements. The purpose of the public review process is to accept public comments on air quality issues relevant to this determination. Only written comments received at the address noted below within the specified time frame, or comments presented orally at a scheduled public meeting, will be considered prior to final action on the permit.
