NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (Lower Creek United Methodist Church) Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after January 4, 2025 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to the TRUSTEES OF LOWER CREEK COMMUNITY CHURCH all their rights, titles and interests in and to the following described lots or parcels of land, situate in Grant District and Union District, Cabell County, West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit: PARCEL ONE BEING one quarter of an acre more or less: Beginning at a Stone Corner, N. 45 E. 6 poles & 18 links to a Stone, thence N. 53 W. 8 poles to a Stone; thence s. 45 W. 6 poles & 18 links to a Stone, thence S. 53 E. 8 poles to the Beginning. And being the same property conveyed from Sarah C. Barker to A. H. Bedford, Agent of the Publishing House of the Methodist Episcopal Church South by Deed dated October 22, 1875 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Cabell County, West Virginia in Deed Book 19, at Page 545, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL TWO ALL THAT certain piece, parcel or lot of real property situate on Lower Creek Road, Grant District, Cabell County, West Virginia, bounded and described a follows; BEGINNING at a stake in the south line of Lower Creek Road said stake being near the most southerly corner of a concrete bridge, thence leaving the road S. 33 45′ W. 65 feet to a buckeye, S. 16 45′ W. 52 feet to a stake, S. 20 15′ E. 104 feet, N. 45 15′ E. 171 feet to a stake in the south line of Lower Creek Road and with same N. 53 W. 132 feet to the BEGINNING, containing (38/100) of an acre, more or 1ess. And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of Lower Creek Methodist Church from B. W. McComas and Linnie McComas, husband and wife, by Deed dated May 9, 1966, and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 649, at Page 147, reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL THREE ALL THAT certain piece, parcel, or tract of land situate in Union District, Cabell County, West Virginia, and more particularly described as follows: Lower Creek Methodist Church lot, situate on the waters of Lower Creek of Mud River around intersection of Rt. 9 and Rte. 18, Union District, Cabell County, NW. of Milton, West Virginia, Tax Map 29 P/O Parcel 20, F.I.R.M. 540016 0027-A, more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING, on I.P. on N.E. corner of Lower Creek Methodist Church lot, in Deed Book 649 at Page 147, on south side of Lower Creek Road Rte. 9, witness 132′ east of bridge, Thence S.40 15′ E. 220′ with Rte, 9. Thence S. 34 E. 294′ with Rte. 9, to 18″ walnut corner. Thence N.84 15′ 50″ W. 607.27′ with original south line crossing N Lower Creek to division line between church Jot and Lot 4. Thence N. 21 45′ E. 374.13′ crossing McComas with division line between Lot 4 and church lot, to SW corner of church lot. Thence S. 13 15′ E. 104′ with existing church lot. Thence N. 52 15′ E. 171′ with east line between church lots, to the BEGINNING, containing, 3.165 acres, more or less. For a more particularly description reference is hereby made to .” 1′ that certain map as surveyed by D.E.T. under the supervision of Dallas Lovejoy, P.S. 193, Milton, West Virginia, and shown on a map titled, PROPERTY PLAT FOR LOWER CREEK METHODIST CHURCH, dated 5-15-95, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein. And being the same property conveyed to Lower Creek United Methodist Church from Dewey L. Yates and Patricia M. Yates, his wife by Deed dated January 31, 1996 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 908, at Page 722, reference to which is hereby made. SAID Lower Creek United Methodist Church was declared discontinued effective October 13, 2013 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and by the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church at its 2014 Annual Conference.
