On September 11, 2019, officers of the Charleston Police Departmentseized $5,964.00 (Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and Sixty-FourDollars), in United States Currency, at or near the intersection ofBeech Avenue and Edgewood Drive, Charleston, Kanawha County, WestVirginia. $5,964.00 (Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and SixtyFourDollars), in United States Currency constititutes money furnished orintended to be furnished, in violation of West Virginia Code, Chapter 60A, by any person in exchange for a controlled substance, and/orproceeds traceable to such an exchange, and/or moneys used, orwhich have been used, or which are intended to be used to facilitateany violation of West Virginia Code, Chapter 60A, and/or thelaws of the State of West Virginia. $5,964.00 (Five Thousand,Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Dollars) was found in the possessionand/or control of Brian Rowlands and at the time of the seizure, heclaimed ownership of the said Currency. The State of West Virginiahas filed a Forfeiture Petition wherein it has asked the CircuitCourt of Kanawha County, West Virginia to forfeit the above-described$5,964.00 (Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and Sixty-Four Dollars), inUnited States Currency to the State and has also asked the Court tovest title to ownership of the Currency in the State of WestVirginia. A copy of said Forfeiture can be obtained from the KanawhaCounty Clerk’s Office. Any person having a claim upon theabove-described $5,964.00 (Five Thousand, Nine Hundred and Sixty-FourDollars), in United States Currency shall make a claim on saidproperty on or before the passing of 30 days from first publicationof this legal publication.
