TOWN OF CHESAPEAKE (WV) REQUEST FOR BIDS RESIDENTIAL DEMOLITION PROJECT The Town of Chesapeake (WV) is accepting sealed bids for the demolition of six (6) dwellings within town limits. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder meeting all regulatory compliance requirements. Scope of Work: Permitting and Notifications: In addition to obtaining the necessary demolition permits from the Town of Chesapeake, ensure that all structures are tested for asbestos prior to demolition. Site Preparation and Safety: Implement safety protocols in accordance with federal and state codes, including the West Virginia State Fire Code. This involves securing the site, posting appropriate signage, and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards. Develop a safety plan that addresses potential hazards during demolition. Structural Demolition and Debris Disposal: Proceed with the careful dismantling of the six residential structures, ensuring that all debris is disposed of in compliance with environmental regulations. This includes the proper handling and disposal of any hazardous materials identified during the asbestos inspection. Site Restoration: After demolition, grade the site to ensure proper drainage and cap all utilities as required. Remove all debris and waste materials, leaving the site clean and free of hazards. Conduct a final inspection to confirm that all work has been completed satisfactorily and in compliance with applicable regulations. Out of Scope: Asbestos Testing & Abatement – these reports will be provided prior to demolition Contractor Requirements: Must be a licensed residential demolition contractor in West Virginia Must provide proof of licensing, insurance, and previous experience in residential demolition Must register to do business with the Town of Chesapeake (WV). Must comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, including smoke-free workplace policies as applicable under WV law.
