CITY OF KENOVA, WEST VIRGINIA 1501 Pine Street, Kenova, West Virginia (304) 453-3121 July 1, 2025 Mary McCoy 1410 Maple Street Kenova, WV 25530 RE: Complaint of the Unsafe Building Commission Property address: 1410 Maple Street, Kenova, West Virginia COMPLAINT OF THE UNSAFE BUILDING COMMISSION Ms. McCoy: The unsafe building commission has been referred the above described property, which was identified as being unsafe, unsanitary, dangerous and detrimental to the public welfare by the City of Kenova. This letter is to inform you that the property located 1410 Maple Street, Kenova, West Virginia, is in violation of multiple property maintenance codes. These include, but are not limited to, sections 108 and 302 of the International Property Maintenance Code pertaining to “unsafe structures” and “exterior conditions”. After a review of the property records it has been determined that you are the owner and/or responsible agent of the property owner. You will have thirty (30) days from receipt of this notice to correct or abate these issues. If you do not understand the nature of the violations, you may contact the City of Kenova Building Inspector at the above referenced telephone number. You have the right to dispute or appeal these findings to the Unsafe Building Commission, on the date and time provided below. On August 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. the Unsafe Building Commission will meet at the Kenova City Hall, 1501 Pine Street, Kenova, West Virginia 25530 to make certain further findings of health and safety as well as to determine the remediation plan on your property, if necessary. This plan may include, but is not limited to, demolition of the structure located on your property. Further, a lien may be placed upon your property as a result of remediation action of the City of Kenova. You may be present in person or be represented by an agent or counsel to offer evidence or your own plan for remediation. It is strongly recommended that you or your agent or counsel appear to protect your interests. Again, your compliance with this notice of violation is critical due to the serious safety deficiencies. If not complied with, the City of Kenova may institute the appropriate proceedings to correct or abate such violations. Any action taken by the City of Kenova on such premises shall be charged against the real estate upon which the structure is located and shall be a lien upon such real estate. If you are not the current owner or agent, please advise the undersigned immediately. If you do not understand this complaint or the proceedings before the Unsafe Building Commission, you are advised to seek legal counsel.
