THE TOWN OF COWEN CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER. The position pays $10.00/Hr. for non-certified officers and $12.00/Hr. for certified officers. Non-certified officers have one year from the date of employment to attend and complete the Basic Officer Training at the West Virginia State Police Academy. Upon successful completion of training and certification pay will increase to $12.00/Hr. The Town of Cowen is seeking an applicant who exhibits good character, sound judgement, honesty, reliability and has the integrity to serve and protect the citizens of Cowen and uphold the law. Minimum Qualifications: U.S. Citizen, High School Diploma or GED, 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, capable of passing a comprehensive background investigation, available to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be mentally and physically fit to perform the full duties of a police officer. Must be able to demonstrate and pass the physical fitness entrance requirements for the Academy prior to offering the position. The Town of Cowen is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
