ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS MCDOWELL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MCDOWELL COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA PROPOSED MCDOWELL COUNTY ATHELTIC FACILITY AND BOE OFFICE THRASHER PROJECT #060-10092 Sealed Bids for McDowell County Athletic Facility and BOE Office will be received by the McDowell County Board of Education at the office of The Thrasher Group, Inc., 160 Association Drive, Charleston, WV, until 12:30 p.m., L.P.T., on Thursday, May 28, 2020, for furnishing labor and materials and performing all Work set forth in the Contract Documents prepared by The Thrasher Group, Inc. Immediately following the scheduled closing time for the reception of Bids, all proposals which have been submitted in accordance with the conditions of the Contract Documents will be publicly opened and read aloud at 1:00 p.m., L.P.T. through live-stream, as social distancing guidelines will be followed. A link for the live-stream of the Bid Opening will be provided via Addendum. The approximate quantities of Work to be Bid upon is as described as follows: Work of the Project includes construction of a 17,525 sq. ft. two-story building. The first floor containing an Athletic Facility to include locker rooms, weight room, concession and restroom facilities with the second floor housing the Board of Education offices. The masonry and metal frame building with wood roof trusses will be supported by concrete spread footers and a concrete slab on grade. Construction includes site and utility work, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, automatic sprinkler system and other associated Work indicated in the Contract Documents The Work will be substantially completed within 270 consecutive calendar days from Notice to Commence. Final Completion shall be 30 days thereafter. Liquidated damages shall be $750.00 per calendar day. A two envelope system will be used. Envelope No. 1 must have the following information presented on the front: Name and address of Bidder Bid on McDowell County Athletic Facility and BOE Office Received by The Thrasher Group, Inc. on behalf of McDowell County BOE Envelope No. 2 labeled “Bid Proposal” shall also be placed inside of Envelope #1. Envelope No. 1 will be opened first and the Bid Opening Requirement items checked for compliance as outlined on the Bid Opening Checklist on page BOR – 1 of these contract documents. If such documents are found to be in order, Envelope No. 2 “Bid Proposal”, will then be opened and will be publicly read aloud. If the documents required to be contained in Envelope No. 1 are not in order, Envelope No. 2 “Bid Proposal” will not be opened and the Bid will be considered non-responsive and will be returned to the Bidder. A Bidder may not withdraw his Bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date set for the opening of Bids. Bids shall be accompanied by a certified check or Bid Bond payable to the McDowell County Board of Education, for an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the base Bid. Bidders must hold a current West Virginia contractor’s license on the date of Bid Opening. Bids received after the scheduled closing time for the reception of Bids will be returned unopened to the Bidders. McDowell County Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all Bids.
