WEST VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OFFICE OF ABANDONED MINE LANDS AND RECLAMATION Public meetings will be conducted to describe proposed AML Economic Development Pilot Projects. The intent of these Pilot Projects is to alleviation of health, safety and environmental problems created by coal miens abandoned prior to August 3, 1977, while providing an opportunity for economic and community development end use. Information regarding these projects, including required NEPA documentation, can be obtained from the WVDEP at 304-926-0485. The following projects listed with county locations will be explained. Project Name and County Indian Creek ATV Resort – Boone Oak Hill Sanitary Board: Minden Sewer Project – Fayette Leon Street Slip Remediation – Harrison Claudia L. Workman Wildlife Education Center – Kanawha Renaissance Village – McDowell Middletown Commons Redevelopment -Marion MCPARC Community Recreation & Wellness Complex – Marion Twin Hollow Campgrounds & Cabins Expansion – Mingo Appalachian Aquatic Conservation Center at West Liberty Univ – Ohio Reclaiming the Cheat River (RECREATING) – Preston Harper-Eccles Sewer Extension – Raleigh Rhodell Water Service Upgrade – Raleigh White Oak Waterline Extension – Raleigh The Blackwater River Loop Trail – Tucker Flemming – Old Mining Town Transformation to Rustic Ravines – Wayne Brenton/Baileysville Waterline Extension – Wyoming These projects will be submitted to the Federal Office of Surface Mining for funding consideration.
