Bloom ORDER CONTINUING PETITION FOR CHANGE OF NAME Pending before the Court is a Petition filed on August 18, 2020, by the Petitioner, Justin Phillips, pro se. The Petition seeks to change the name of the Petitioner’s minor child, Tristin Lee Phillips. On September 24, 2020, the Court held a hearing regarding the Petition. During the hearing, The Court inquired as to whether the Petitioner had published notice of the name change in compliance with W. Va. Code 48-25-101(b). The Petitioner stated that they had not published any such notice, and the record did not contain any proof of publication. Accordingly, the Court FINDS that the Petition cannot be granted at this time. The Court ORDERS that this matter be CONTINUED to permit Petitioner to publish the appropriate notice in accordance with W. Va. Code 48-25-101(b). A final hearing in this matter will be held before the Court on October 30, 2020, at 1:30pm. The Court ORDERS that all parties shall appear via Microsoft Teams.
