Greenup-Boyd Counties, Kentucky Freight Issues and Funding Needs Virtual Public Meeting November 2, 2021 4 P.M. – 6 P.M. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission along with consultant engineering firm HDR, Inc. are hosting a virtual public meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 4-6 p.m. to gather ideas on how to improve freight transportation in the Greenup-Boyd County area of northeast Kentucky. This virtual meeting is part of the Greenup-Boyd County Freight Plan, as the plan’s focus is to develop a comprehensive understanding and profile of the existing (multimodal) freight network and support decision-makers with funding and investment decisions to address freight needs. This plan will build upon current state freight and rail plans, the Ironton Truck Study, the Multimodal Economic Impact Study for Huntington Tri-State Airport, and the KYOVA Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The consulting firm conducting the plan will present the freight profile, potential economic development sites and SWOT analysis that led to the creation of the plan’s objectives and performance measures. Virtual attendees will also be presented with the project prioritization process and other recommendations for Greenup-Boyd Counties freight network improvements. The virtual meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 2, 4-6 p.m. Please email Sam Wiser at [email protected] for a direct link to the meeting. The virtual meeting will have a brief presentation and follow with a Q&A session for anyone to talk to the engineers and offer ideas on how to improve area freight network. For those who cannot attend, a public involvement website is available online now. Simply follow this link – https://kyovafreightplan.com/ and share information on the online map.
