NOTICE
MEETING OF BOARD OF REVIEW AND EQUALIZATION
The Marion County Commission will open the Board of Review and Equalization on Friday. January 27, 2017 and January 30, 2017 at 9:00am for application intake ONLY. Hearings will begin Tuesday, January 31 at 9:00 am. The purpose of the meeting is to review and equalize the assessments of properties as made by the assessor for the year 2017, and to correct all errors in the names of persons, the descriptions and valuations of properties and shall cause to be done whatever may be necessary to make valuations comply with the provisions of West Virginia Code ยง11-3-24.
The Board will ask you to state your opinion of the value of your property and support your opinion with substantial information. Such information may include documents such as a certified appraisal, real estate insurance papers, examples of recent comparable sales in your area, pictures, detailed descriptions of your property or any other information that substantially supports your opinion of the value of your property. While none of these are specifically required, the better the evidence, the more likely a taxpayer will prevail at the hearing. You may appeal market values for FUTURE YEAR ONLY.
The Commission will meet on the following days to consider appeals:
January 27 and 30, 2017 (Application intake only)
January 31, 2017 (9:00am – 4:00 pm)
February 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 16, 17, 21, 23, 27, 2017 (9:00 am – 4:00 pm)
February 1, 8, 15, 2017 (1:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
FINAL DAY TO FILE APPEALS FOR MINERALS (GAS, COAL, ETC) IS FEBRUARY 23, 2017 DUE TO THE February 24, 2017 (10:00 am – 4:30 pm) STATE SCHEDULED HEARINGS.
Evening appointments will be available:
February 22, 2017 (1:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
the hearings for INDUSTRIAL appeals will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 1:00pm – 4:00 pm.
The final date to final an appeal is Wednesday, February 22, 2017, by 4:00pm.
THE LAST DAY FOR APPEALS TO BE HEARD WILL BE FEBRUARY 24, 2017
