ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS MCDOWELL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MCDOWELL COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA PROPOSED PARKING LOT PAVING PROJECT Sealed Bids for Paving of a parking lot at Southside School in War, WV will be received by the McDowell County Board of Education, 30 Central Avenue, Welch, McDowell County, West Virginia, until 11:00 a.m., L.P.T., on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, for furnishing labor and materials and performing all Work described below. Immediately following the scheduled closing time for the reception of Bids, all proposals which have been submitted in accordance with the conditions of the Contract Documents will be publicly opened and read aloud. The approximate quantities of Work to be Bid upon is as described as follows: All Labor, Equipment and Material required to complete the paving of a proposed parking area behind the Southside School in War, WV. The approximate area of paving is 120 ft x 100 ft and will consist of 6″ of compacted stone, 2″ of asphalt base course and 2″ of asphalt wearing course. Contractors to field measure and determine exact quantity of material during the pre-bid meeting described below. The Work will be substantially completed within 20 days after the date when the Contract Times commence to run, and completed and ready for final payment within 30 days after the date when the Contract Times commence to run. Liquidated damages shall be $100.00 per day. There are no drawings or specifications on this project, contractors will be required to field measure the area to be paved and provide a bid based on the description of work above. A two envelope system will be used. Envelope No. 1 must have the following information presented on the front: Name and address of Bidder Bid on Contract: Paving for Parking at Southside School Received by the: McDowell County Board of Education Envelope No. 2 labeled “Bid Proposal” shall also be placed inside of Envelope #1. Envelope No. 1 will be opened first and shall include a certified check or Bid Bond payable to the McDowell County Board of Education, an amount equal to five percent (5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}) of the base Bid, and a current West Virginia contractor’s license. If such documents are found to be in order, Envelope No. 2 “Bid Proposal”, will then be opened and will be publicly read aloud. If the documents required to be contained in Envelope No. 1 are not in order, Envelope No. 2 “Bid Proposal” will not be opened and the Bid will be considered non-responsive and will be returned to the Bidder. A Bidder may not withdraw his Bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date set for the opening of Bids. Bids received after the scheduled closing time for the reception of Bids will be returned unopened to the Bidders. The McDowell County Board of Education reserves the right to reject any and all Bids.
