Sonia D. Chambers, Chair of the West Virginia Health Care Authority, today announced that the Authority has issued a Certificate of Need to West Virginia University Hospitals; Inc.(WVUH), Morgantown, Monongatia County, and Davis Memorial Hospital (DMH), Elkins, Randolph County, CON File #16-7-10976-E, for the formation of a joint venture to improve the services provided at the Cancer Center on the campus of DMH. Under this structure, DMH would continue to operate the Medical Oncology Program and Radiation Oncology Program as an outpatient department of DMH. WVUH and DMH would form a limited liability company (LLC). The LLC will acquire the land, building and existing equipment used by the Cancer Center; acquire new equipment for the Radiation Oncology Program; and lease the land, building, existing equipment and new radiation oncology equipment to DMH for use in connection with the Cancer Center.

The capital expenditure associated with the proposal is $6,200,000.
