NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO CHANGE RATES

JEFFERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT

On May 26, 2016, Jefferson County Public Service District, a public utility, filed with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia, an application requesting increased rates and charges for furnishing potable water service to approximately 115 residential and commercial customers in the County of Jefferson.

The Staff of the Public Service Commission reviewed the application and has recommended a two-step rate increase to the Applicant’s rates and charges. Step 1 rates, effective for two years, are designed to produce approximately $18,237, annually, in additional revenue, an increase of 23.27{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} over rates in effect prior to the instant rate filing. Step 2 rates, effective after two years, are designed to produce approximately $14,023, annually, in additional revenue over existing rates in effect prior to the instant rate filing, an increase of 17.89{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} or a decrease of $4,214, annually, or 4.36{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} compared to the Staff-recommended Step 1 rates.

The rates adopted may be lower than or higher than or the same as recommended.

Anyone desiring to protest the changed rates and charges must do so, in writing, within ten (10) days of the date of publication of this notice. All protests should be addressed to the Executive Secretary, Public Service Commission of West Virginia, P. 0. Box 812, Charleston, West Virginia 25323. To help the Commission determine the justification for additional review and investigation, protests must be specific as to reasons that the changed rates and charges should be modified. In addition, anyone desiring a hearing in this matter must demand a hearing in the letter of protest.

If no substantial protest is received, the Commission may approve the Staff-recommended rates without a hearing.
