NOTICE FILING FOR OFFICE CEREDO MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Notice of Election.

The Town of Ceredo quadrennial election shall be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Any candidate seeking office shall file with the Recorder between January 2, 2021 and January 22, 2021, a Notice of Candidacy on a form provided by the Recorder. Offices. The election shall be for the office of Mayor, Recorder, and five town council positions. Parties. By Charter, the Town of Ceredo recognizes the Citizens Party and the Peoples Party. Parties recognized by Council shall hold a convention for the purpose of nominating candidates for municipal office on the date, time, and place as may be determined by the respective party chairman or party executive committee. Any person eligible to hold office who is not a member of the Citizens Party or Peoples Party may be placed on the ballot by filing a Notice of Candidacy with the Recorder as provided herein. Filing Fee. Any candidate seeking office in the municipal election shall pay to the Recorder, not before January 2, 2021, or after January 22, 2021, a fee of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00); a fee of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for the office of Recorder; or a fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for the office of Mayor. Any person otherwise eligible to hold office who is financially unable to pay the filing fee as provided herein may sign a statement duly notarized, claiming inability to pay the filing fee, and shall then be placed on the ballot as a candidate for election. For the purpose of obtaining a Notice of Candidacy form or paying a filing fee, the Recorder or his designee may be reached at Ceredo Town Hall, 700 B Street, Ceredo, WV, between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.
