NOTICE OF ORDINANCE AMENDMENT TO INCREASE REVENUE FOR THE CITY OF SMITHERS
The proposed ordinance to increase revenue for the City of Smithers is an ordinance to establish amunicipal fee for the purpose of providing funding to pay for the continuance, maintenance and improvementof the essential municipal services of police protection, street cleaning, street lighting, andstreet maintenance and improvement within the city.
A public hearing and a final vote by City Council to amend the ordinance fee structure will be conducted on July 13, 2020. Public hearing begins at 5:30 p.m. City Council will vote during the regular City Council meeting for the City of Smithers beginning at the adjournment of the public hearing. Both meetings to be held at the SmithersCity Hall located at 2 Greyhound Lane, Smithers, West Virginia. A copy of the Municipal Fee ordinance, first passed on October 8, 2018, may beobtained at the Smithers City Hall.The proposed fee structure is available for public view at Smithers City Hall beginning June 25-July 13, 2020, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, viewers need to wear masks and maintain a 6-foot distance from others present. Any interested party may appear at the aforementioned public hearing/City Council meeting to beheard regarding the proposed ordinance.
