NOTICE OF PROPOSED
CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(Grace United Methodist Church)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after January 27, 2020 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Southern WV Rentals LLC, all of their right, title and interest, in and to the following described real estates, lying and being in the City of Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia, to-wit:
PARCEL ONE:
Lot 4 and part of Lot 3, in Section 313 of Bluefield, West Virginia, belonging to Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, South: Beginning at a stake at the intersection of the west line of Thomas Street with the south line of Second Street; thence with said Second Street S. 67 W. 56 feet; thence S. 16 15′ E. 84 feet 4 inches; thence N. 67 E. 56 feet; thence N. 16 W. 84 feet 4 inches to the beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to Robert S. Cass, William S. Lyons, Joseph R. Argarbright, George H. Burton, Phillip M. Shrewsbury, Charles F. Douthill, Harman A. White, William H. Hughs and S. H. Melohar, Trustees for the M. E. Church South of West Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia, by Deed dated April 3, 1896 from D. W. McClaugherty and Lucretia E. McClaugherty, his wife, John K. Peck and Kate E. Peck, his wife, and of record in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Mercer County, West Virginia in Deed Book 34, at page 44.
PARCEL TWO:
Part of Lots 3 and 2, Section 313, of Bluefield, West Virginia, beginning on the northwest corner of Grace Street Church lot on Second Street; thence S. 67 W 44 feet; thence S. 16 15′ E. 84 feet 4 inches to a stake; thence N. 67 E. 44 feet to the southwest corner of said Church lot; thence N. 16 15′ W. 84 feet 4 inches along the northwest line of said Church lot to the beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to P. M. Shrewsberry, C. P. Evans, E. H. Brown, B. A. White and E. E. Carter, Trustees for the M. E. Church South, of Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia, by Deed dated December 31, 1908 from D. W. McClaugherty and Lucretia E. McClaugherty, his wife, and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 68, at page 363.
PARCEL THREE:
“BEGINNING at a stake in the west line of Thomas Street S. 16 15′ E. 84 feet 4 inches from the intersection of the south line of Second Street with the West line of said Thomas Street the same being the S. E. corner of the lot belonging to the M. E. Church, South as shown by a deed from the male grantor and wife, and J. K. Peck and wife dated the 3rd day of April 1896 and recorded in Mercer County Clerk’s Office in Deed Book No. 34 at page 44 thence along Thomas Street S. 16 15′ E. 84 feet 4 inches to Third Street, thence along the north of Third Street S. 67 W. 56 feet to a stake, thence N. 16 15′ W. 84 feet 4 inches to a stake, the S. W. corner of said Church lot, thence N. 67 E. 56 feet to point of beginning.”
And being the same property conveyed to A. E. Johnston, Hunter Smith, A. F. Stafford, Sr., W. C. Foreline, Sr., A. B. Stafford, H. J. Bowles, F. H. Crotty, A. M. Wilburn, and J. Paul Udy, Trustees of the Grace Methodist Church, Bluefield, West Virginia, by Deed dated July 6, 1959 from the Board of Education of the County of Mercer, West Virginia, a corporation, and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 372, at page 168.
PARCEL FOUR:
BEGINNING on Rogers Street (known as Second Street) 100 feet from its intersection with Thomas Street (the 100 feet being the property of the Grace Street Methodist Church); thence along the south line of said Rogers Street S. 67 W. 54 feet to a stake; thence S. 16 15′ E. 84 feet 4 inches to a stake; thence N. 67 E. 54 feet to the Southwest corner of said church property, and with the Northwest line of same 84 feet 4 inches to the Beginning.
And being the same property conveyed to William P. Allen, S. T. Harper, A. F. Stafford, Jr., Heber G. Stafford, Hunter H. Smith, Richard Poe, Gene Gray, Ernest Amici and James E. Gibson, Trustees of the Grace United Methodist Church, Bluefield District, West Virginia, by Deed dated June 17, 1983 from Zoe Laskou, unmarried, and Mary Fosculou, unmarried, and of record in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 624, at page 48.
Said Grace United Methodist Church having been closed by the regular 2019 session of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
