NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND HEARING
ON APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE FROM WATER QUALITY
STANDARDS FOR REMINING ACTIVITY
In accordance with applicable state and federal requirements, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) will hold a public hearing on May 17, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. via Google Meet at: https://meet.google.com/iqj-rtiq-zdg?authuser=0. This link will also be available on WVDEP’s Water Quality Standards webpage under WQS Public Meetings, Hearings and Notices and on the West Virginia Secretary of State’s webpage under Administrative Law, Meeting Notices. The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments on an application for a variance from water quality standards for dissolved aluminum and pH for UNT/Bear Hollow RM 0.67 (KC-27-CE-30-C-2) which is a tributary of Bear Hollow, a tributary of Fulton Creek in Raleigh County West Virginia. The variance has been requested by Republic Energy, LLC.
Any person wishing to comment on the proposed remining variance is invited to be present or represented at the hearing. In addition to oral comments provided at the hearing, the agency will accept written comments at any time up to the conclusion of the public hearing. No comments will be accepted after that time.
