Notice of Realty Action – Proposed Revision of the Park Boundary, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park

Whereas, the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, 78 Stat 897, as amended and codified at 54 U.S.C. § 100506(c)(1)(B) authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to make minor changes to the boundary of a National Park System unit that are necessary or contribute to the proper preservation, protection, interpretation, or management of a system unit; and

Whereas, it is necessary to include within the boundary of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park an approximately 12.97 acre parcel of land for the preservation, protection, interpretation and management of resources;

Therefore, pursuant to the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965, as amended, notice is hereby given that the boundary of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park will be revised to include approximately 12.97 acres of land with all improvements thereon, situate in Harpers Ferry District, Jefferson County, West Virginia, lying on the south side of U.S. Route 340, on the east side of the relocation of Route 27 and on the west side of Old Route 27, more particularly bounded and described in a plat of survey made by Appalachian Survey, Inc., dated June 6, 1981, and recorded with a deed dated August 28, 1981 in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Jefferson County, West Virginia, in Deed Book 490, at Page 384. The above described parcel of land is depicted on the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Proposed Minor Boundary Revision map numbered 385/133094 and dated June 2016.
