NOTICE
The Town of Bluefield, Virginia (“the Town”) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Town Attorney. Both full-time candidates and part-time candidates will be considered. In the event a full-time candidate is chosen, then they will be paid an annual salary and receive the standard benefits of the Town for exempt full-time employees. In the event a part-time candidate is chosen, then they will serve the Town on a contractual basis, and receive a fixed monthly amount or an agreed upon hourly rate for their services. Compensation to the candidate chosen will be negotiable and dependent upon experience. The candidate chosen will be required to provide a wide range of professional legal services to the Town’s departments, its various boards, its commissions, its committees, its Council, and shall serve under the general supervision and direction of the Town Manager. To be considered eligible for this position, candidates applying must have a Juris Doctorate/Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, be an active member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar, and have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a practicing attorney, with such experience preferably including litigation, municipal work, real estate work, and collections work.
