PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
Town of Sophia, West Virginia
HOME RULE PROGRAM
Notice is hereby given by the Town of Sophia, West Virginia, that it will hold a public hearing on February 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Sophia Town Hall, 100 Railroad Avenue, Sophia, West Virginia.
The purpose of this public hearing is to discuss the Town of Sophia’s proposed Home Rule written plan application. Information from this hearing will be utilized by the Town of Sophia in its application to the West Virginia Home Rule Program. The Town of Sophia’s proposed Home Rule Plan is available for public inspection in the Mayor’s Office, Sophia Town Hall, Sophia, West Virginia, beginning on Monday January 13, 2020 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing scheduled on Thursday February 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., and to present oral or written comments concerning Sophia’s proposed Home Rule plan and application. Written comments may be addressed to Mayor Danny Barr, 100 Railroad Avenue, PO Box 700, Sophia, West Virginia 25921.
Sophia Town Council will consider all public comments in preparing the final draft of the plan application and in deciding to proceed with an ordinance authorizing the Town to submit the plan to the West Virginia Home Rule Board for its consideration and approval.
The first reading of an ordinance approving submission of the Town of Sophia’s Home Rule plan application took place August 15, 2019, during the Sophia Town Council meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Sophia Town Hall 100 Railroad Avenue, Sophia, West Virginia.
