A general investigation for the purpose of establishing a task force to make recommendations regarding rules governing fees for the setting of United States Veterans Affairs grave markers and related transactions.
NOTICE OF FORMATION OF TASK FORCE
On July 6, 2022, the Commission initiated a General Investigation and a process for the formation of the Veterans Grave Markers Task Force to (1) make a recommendation to the Commission as to whether the Veterans Marker Rules are necessary, or whether the Commission should exercise its W. Va. Code section 24F-1-1 et seq. jurisdiction in a different manner, and (2) file recommended revision rule if the task force concludes the Veterans Marker Rules are necessary.
Commission Staff shall serve as chair and administrator of the Veterans Grave Markers Task Force. In addition to Staff, the Commission named the West Virginia Cemetery and Funeral Association, and the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, as participants on the task force. Any cemetery or company that sets and installs United States Department of Veterans Affairs’ grave markers or other interested party may file a Notice of Participation with the Executive Secretary of the Public Service Commission by July 26, 2022. Interested parties that do not participate on the Veterans Grave Markers Task Force may file comments at any time.
