Notice is hereby given that CARTER ROAG COAL COMPANY, 109 Appalachian Dr., Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 47 School Street, Suite 301, Philippi, WV 26416-1600 for a significant permit revision to Article 3 permit number U201297 in order to revise the approved underground mining limits to 7430.63 acres of total underground mining area in the Sewell seam and all splits of seam thereof.. The revised permit will discharge into Left Fork Buckhannon River of Buckhannon River of Tygart Valley River of Monongahela River and is located 3.9 miles southeast of Helvetia, in the Middle Fork District of Randolph County, Longitude 80* 9′ 2″ and Latitude 38* 39′ 20″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the surface mining application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until March 30, 2023, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until March 30, 2023, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above AND in the Randolph County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.
