Public Notice

Sealed bids for the ROOF REPLACEMENT PROJECT at the Barnesville Middle School Gymnasium will be received by the Treasurer of the Barnesville Exempted Village School District, 210 West Church Street, Barnesville, OH 43713, no later than 10:00AM/EST on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2015. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately thereafter in the Office of the Treasurer.

The successful bidder will be required to furnish both a performance bond and a labor/material payment bond in the full amount of the contract price, and certificates of comprehensive general liability, automobile liability and worker’s compensation insurances. Each bidder must be licensed to do business in the State of Ohio.

Plans and Specifications may be examined at The Builders Exchange, Pittsburgh, PA; Ohio Valley Construction Employers Council, Steubenville, OH and Ohio Valley Construction Employers Council, Wheeling, WV, or at the office of the Architect, Shaeffer & Madama, Inc.

Plans and Specifications may be obtained through the office of Shaeffer & Madama, Inc., 57 Fourteenth Street, Wheeling, WV with a One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) deposit per set; contractors are limited to two (2) sets by deposit. Deposit monies will be returned to any bona fide bidder who returns the documents in good, reusable condition within ten (10) calendar days following the bid opening. Deposit deductions will be made in an amount not to exceed the cost of reproduction for damages to the documents and the cost of postage.

A certified check or bank draft in the amount of five percent (5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}) of the total amount of the bid, payable to the Barnesville Exempted Village School District, shall be submitted with each bid; or a satisfactory bid bond furnished by a solvent surety company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio in an amount equal to five percent (5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}) of the bid. The certified check, bank draft or bid bond shall be forfeited to the Barnesville Exempted Village School District as a measure of liquidated damages should the bidder fail or refuse to execute the contract within ten (10) days following written notification of acceptance. The bid bond or check of the unsuccessful bidders will be returned when an award is made; that of the successful bidder will be returned when the contract, bonds and insurance requirements are received and approved. After the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids, no bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days.

Completion time is critical to this project and may be a condition of bid selection. Total completion time is forty-five (45) consecutive calendar days from the date of Notice to Proceed or date of contract, whichever is soonest.

The Barnesville Exempted Village School District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informality in the bidding. All bids submitted should be marked on the outside of the envelope as “BID FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL GYMNASIUM ROOF PROJECT.”

A Prebid Meeting is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2015 at 1:30PM/EST; interested parties are to meet at Barnesville Middle School, 970 Shamrock Drive, Barnesville, OH.
