Public Hearing Notice
The Monroe County Commissioners are submitting a proposal to the Ohio Department of Transportation for an operating and capital assistance grant under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 and 5339 of the Federal Transit Laws, as codified, and the Ohio Public Transportation Grant Program.

The operating grant will provide financial assistance for public transportation service for the residents of Monroe County during CY 2020. The service currently operates Monday through Sunday, 6 a.m. to 1:20 a.m. One schedule services seven days a week with three runs per day. Scheduled van service within the County and within the Woodsfield Corporation, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fares in the scheduled services are: $2.00 from Lewisville to Hannibal, and $1:50 from Woodsfield to Hannibal and the elderly and disabled passengers ride ½ price. The van service is $1.50 per way and elderly and disabled passengers are donations only.

Out of County service: MCPT travels outside of Monroe County to St. Clairsville, Marietta, Zanesville, Pittsburgh, PA; New Martinsville, W.V; Clarksburg, W.V; Parkersburg, W.V; and Wheeling W.V; There is one regular scheduled trip to Wheeling W.V. the last Friday of every month. Please contact the MCPT office for schedule of these out-of-county trips.
Fares for out-of-county trips (one way)
$2.50 for trips to New Martinsville.
$5.00 for regularly scheduled trips to out-of-county locations.
$10.00 for out-of-county trips not on regular schedule.
There are no discount fares for out-of-county services.

The capital grant will also provide financial assistance to purchase one replacement MMV for the Monroe County Public Transportation Service during CY 2020 (5311) at a total project cost of $40,000.00.
The capital grant will also provide financial assistance for maintaining vehicles for the Monroe County Public Transportation Service as well during CY 2020 (5339) at a total project cost of $15,000.00
The E & D grant will provide State Funds to offset the half price fare offered to elderly and disabled passengers.

Copies of the detailed service description, proposed changes, and project budget may be obtained at the transit system office, 118 Home Avenue, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

A public hearing will be held on Monday August 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Monroe County Commissioners Office in the Monroe County Courthouse for public comments.
