PRE-ADOPTION NOTICE OF ORDINANCE INCREASING SEWER RATES TOWN OF LUMBERPORT NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that the Town of Lumberport, a municipal corporation, will hold a hearing before the final vote on a proposed ordinance, the principal object of which is the enactment of increases to the sewer rates for customers of the sewer collection system of Lumberport, WV. The title of the ordinance is “AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF LUMBERPORT, WEST VIRGINIA, AMENDING THE ORDINANCE OR RATE SCHEDULE AND ESTABLISHING A REVISED SCHEDULE OF JUST AND EQUITABLE RATES FOR THE SERVICE AND FACILITES FURNISHED TO THE CUSTOMERS OF THE SEWER COLLECTION SYSTEM OF THE TOWN OF LUMBERPORT, WEST VIRGINIA”. The Town of Lumberport deems the present customer rates and charges for the furnishing of sewer service throughout the entire territory service by the Town of Lumberport to be inadequate to provide sufficient revenue to the Town of Lumberport to maintain and operate the sewer collection and disposal system and to maintain required debt service coverage. The changes to the rates and charges being proposed generally, being a percentage increase of approximately 16%, are necessary to provide sufficient revenues to the Town of Lumberport to maintain and operate the sewer collection and disposal system and to maintain required debt service coverage. The Town of Lumberport is proposing that the new rates become effective for all bills rendered 45 days after enactment of the Ordinance. The proposed rate increases are as follows: APPLICABILITY Applicable within the entire territory served. AVAILABILITY Available for general domestic, commercial and industrial service. (I) RATES (customers with metered water supply) (I) First 3,000 gallons used per month $ 13.53 per 1,000 gallons (I) Next 8,000 gallons used per month $ 13.04 per 1,000 gallons (I) Next 25,000 gallons used per month $ 12.12 per 1,000 gallons (I) Next 24,000 gallons used per month $ 11.21 per 1,000 gallons (I) All over 60,000 gallons used per month $ 10.67 per 1,000 gallons MINIMUM CHARGE (I) No minimum bill will be rendered for less than $ 40.59 per month, which is the equivalent of 3,000 gallons. FLAT RATE CHARGE (customers with non-metered water supply) (I) Equivalent of 4,000 gallons of water usage – $ 53.63 per month (I) Indicates increase in rates. The final vote on adoption of said proposed ordinance shall take place during a Council Meeting in the Community Center, located on George Street, Lumberport, WV on July 25, 2025, at 4:30pm. Interest parties may appear and be heard at such time with respect to the passage of the proposed ordinance.
