NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (LAUREL FORK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH) Notice is hereby given that Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after December 17, 2025 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Janet Fleischer, all of their right, title and interest, in and to the following tract or parcel of land, situate in Meade District, Upshur County, West Virginia, and more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a Sassafras and running thence N. 64 1/2 E. 13 1/2 P. to a Beech, thence N. 55 36 W. to a Chestnut Oak, thence ____ W. 9 1/2 P. to a Chestnut, thence S. 11 P. to the Beginning containing one hundred and one fourth Poles. And being the same property conveyed from Ebenezer Phillips and Catherine Phillips to the Trustees for the Laurel Fork Methodist E. Church by Deed dated March 6, 1872 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Upshur County, West Virginia in Deed Book I, at Page 157, reference which is hereby made. Reference is hereby made to that “PLAT OF RETRACEMENT SURVEY FOR EBENEZER CHAPEL METHODIST CHURCH SITUATE IN MEADE DISTRICT, UPSHUR COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA SHOWING A PARCEL OF 1.900 ACRES, BEING ALL OF A TRACT AS CONVEYED TO THE TRUSTEES OF EBENEZER CHAPEL METHODIST CHURCH IN DEED BOOK 130 AT PAGE 491. SEE DEED BOOK I AT PAGE 157” by DALE P. BENNETT P.S. #954 dated Oct. 07, 2025 which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. The aforesaid Laurel Fork United Methodist Church, formerly known as Laurel Fork M. E. Church, has also been known as Ebenezer Chapel Methodist Church and Ebenezer Chapel M. E. Church. Said Laurel Creek United Methodist Church was closed effective July 1, 2025 by resolution of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
