PUBLIC NOTICE
INTENT TO TRANSFER FEDERAL PROPERTY
BG SUMNER JONES ARMY RESERVE
CENTER
The United States Army Reserve hereby officially notifies the public of its intent to transfer the BG Sumner Jones Army Reserve Center (ARC). The BG Sumner Jones ARC includes approximately 3.33 acres of land located in Wheeling, West Virginia. The BG Sumner Jones ARC has been fully evaluated and determined to be suitable for transfer under Section 120(h) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). A draft Finding of Suitability to Transfer (FOST) has been prepared to document the environmental condition of the Property and its suitability for transfer.
The BG Sumner Jones ARC FOST is available for a 30-day public review and comment period commencing on 12 December 2025 and ending on 11 January 2026. All public comments received during the public comment period will be reviewed and incorporated into the FOST, as appropriate. The FOST will be available for review at the following location: Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th Street, Wheeling, West Virginia 26003.
