Notice is hereby given that the Barbour County Senior Center, Inc dba Here & There Transitof 47 Church Street, PO Box 146 Philippi, WV 26416 is applying for a grant under 49 U.S.C.Section 5311. A general description of the grant proposal is as follows: DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: (1) Barbour County Senior Center, Inc dba Here & There Transit transportation willprovide deviated fixed route and demand response van service to the public ofBarbour and portions of Taylor Counties. (2) Project location is Barbour and portions of Taylor Counties. (3) Estimated cost of the project – $506,706.00 ($352,353.00 Federal Share and$154,353.00 Local Share). (4) No person(s), families, or businesses will be displaced by this project. (5) The proposed project will not have a significant environmental impact upon theservice areas. (6) All steps possible will be undertaken to aid elderly people and people withdisabilities. (7) The agency has wheelchair lift equipment vans and trained drivers to help meetthe needs of individuals with disabilities. (8) Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, no person(s) shall, on the grounds ofrace, color or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied thebenefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under its program of transit servicedelivery and related benefits. If translation services of any type, written or oral, areneeded, please contact the Barbour County Senior Center, Inc dba Here & ThereTransit. Should any 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 capital funds become available, purchased equipment may include, but not be limited to: buses, vans or other paratransit vehicles, radios and communications equipment, passenger shelters, wheelchair lifts and restraints, computer hardware/software, spare parts or components, and other durable goods. Persons interested in holding a public hearing regarding the possible procurement of capital equipment must submit a written request within 15 days from the date of this notice. The purpose of this notice is to afford affected citizens, private transportation providers, and other interested agencies an early opportunity to examine the proposal and offer comments and/or recommendations on the overall scope of the proposed project. The grant proposal will be available for public inspection and comment for 15 days from the date of this notice.
