PUBLIC NOTICE – REMEDIATION ACTIVITY NEWSPAPER: The Exponent Telegram PUBLIC NOTICE DATE: 3/18/2026 The West Virginia Black Heritage Festival Board of Directors has requested that the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) facilitate an environmental cleanup at the Kelly Miller Community Center under the Brownfields Assistance Program. The site is located at 408 EB Saunders Way, Clarksburg, WV 26301. The building is undergoing remediation for reuse or redevelopment purposes. Asbestos containing building materials were identified by asbestos surveys conducted at the property on June 4-5, 2024. The WVDEP Office of Environmental Remediation Brownfields Assistance Program, through the CERCLA Section 128(a) USEPA State Response Program, will fund the necessary abatement of the asbestos containing materials. This abatement will be performed in keeping with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
