NOTICE OF EMERGENCY INTERIM RATE INCREASE
NOTICE is hereby given that the Ohio County Public Service District (District), a public utility, has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of West Virginia to increase its rates and charges for furnishing water service to 4,192 customers in Ohio, Marshall, and Brooke Counties, West Virginia.
On recommendation of Commission Staff, the Commission approved an emergency interim water rate increase for the District effective for service rendered on and after June 4, 2015, subject to refund. The Staff recommended an emergency interim rate increase to alleviate financial distress. The emergency interim rates will produce approximately $248,942 annually of additional revenue, an overall increase of 7.83{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. The emergency interim rate increase authorized by the Commission will increase the average residential bill by $4.41 or 8.1{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. The specific rates approved are as follows:

The above minimum charges are subject to an additional $3.83 per thousand gallons used per month.
RESALE RATE
All water for resale will be billed in accordance with the approved rate of $4.93 per 1,000 gallons.
LEAK ADJUSTMENT
$6.04 per 1,000 gallons is to be used when the bill reflects unusual consumption which can be attributed to eligible leakage on the customer’s side of the meter. This rate shall be applied to all such unusual consumption above the customer’s historical average usage.
This emergency interim rate increase is applicable to all District customers and is subject to refund pursuant to an irrevocable verified written commitment signed by the Board of the Ohio County Public Service District, committing to enter into a rate proceeding under W.Va. Code Section 24-2-4a as modified by Senate Bill No. 234, effective June 12, 2015.
A complete copy of the District’s emergency interim rates, as well as a representative of the District to provide any information requested concerning the proposed changes, is available to all customers, prospective customers, and their agents at the offices of the District in Triadelphia, West Virginia.
