A Public Hearing for the Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in Council Chambers, Weirton City Building, 4:30 P.M. The purpose of this regular meeting is to review the following applications:
a) Alicia Wasick, 113 Belmont Street, requests a variance to permit an accessory structure on a separate lot from the principal structure. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) definitions states accessory structure is a subordinate structure detached from but located on the same lot as a principal building. The use of an accessory structure must be incidental and accessory to the us use of the principal building. Tax Map W43B, Parcel 0259, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
b) Alicia Wasick, 113 Belmont Street, requests a variance to permit the installation of a shed within the side yard. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Table 2 Development requires accessory structures be located behind the rear wall of principal structure. Tax Map W43B, Parcel 0259, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
c) Gary Lyons, 3620 Riverview Drive, requests a variance to permit a six (6) foot setback from the rear alley for a garage. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Table 2 Development (k) requires accessory structures being accessed by vehicles in a R-1, R-2, or R-3 area require a ten (10) foot minimum setback from a rear alley. Tax Map W42R, Parcel 0428, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
d) Joseph Magnone, 237 School Street, requests a variance to permit the installation of a detached garage within the side yard. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Table 2 Development requires accessory structures be located behind the rear wall of principal structure. Tax Map W43B, Parcel 0370, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
e) Rosemary Porco, 312 Wayne Avenue, requests a variance to permit a seventeen (17) feet setback in a front yard of a corner lot on Mineral Avenue for a New Home. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 12.3.1 A setback area equal to the minimum front yard setback shall be provided along all portions of a corner lot abutting any public street. A front yard setback is twenty (20) feet Tax Map W39R, Parcel 0048, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential.
f) Bryn Cooper, 615 Cove Road, is requesting a Conditional Use for a tattoo shop in a C1 District (Tax Map W43N, Parcel 0101). Tattoo shops in C1 and the Pennsylvania Overlay zoning districts require Board approval.
