A Public Hearing for the Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Council Chambers, Weirton City Building, 4:30 P.M.. The purpose of this regular meeting is to review the following applications:
a) Aladdin Signs, on behalf of Weirton Tire and Auto, 2408 Pennsylvania Avenue, is requesting a variance from the City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to replace the existing nonconforming 3ft by 15 ft Uniroyal sign with a 4ft by 18 ft Fire Stone Sign. Per the UDO Section 18.7 (B) No Structural alterations, enlargement, or extension shall be made of a nonconforming sing except when the alternation will eliminate the nonconforming condition. (Tax Map: W43C Parcel: 193 zoned C-1 Highway Commercial District.).
b) Melanie Huff Wharton, 126 Guy Street, requests a variance to permit the installation of a shed within the side yard. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Table 2 Development requires accessory structures be located behind the rear wall of principal structure. (Tax Map W44E, Parcel 129, zoned R-1 Single Family Residential).
c) New Life Worship Church, 1492 Knight Road, requests a variance to permit a six (6) feet high fence in a front yard. The City of Weirton Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 12.3.8 C (1) permits a fence to be a maximum height of four (4) feet in a front yard. (Tax Map W43M, Parcel 0015, C-2 Regional Commercial/Professional District.).
d) Doug and Michelle Harda, of 236 Bell Blvd., have filed an administrative appeal regarding the placement of an accessory structure at 240 Bell Blvd. (Tax Map W43F, Parcel 33, R-1 Single Family Residential).
Applicants must appear in person; all interested parties may appear in person or be represented by agent or attorneys or submit comments in writing giving reasons for either granting or denying this petition.
