PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given that Barons Bus Inc. is applying for a grant under 49 U.S.C. Section 5311(f). A general description of the grant proposal is as follows: DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT (1) Barons Bus continuation of daily intercity bus service using 56 passenger MCI J4500 motor coaches, all are ADA equipped. This service will provide intercity bus service with interlining connections to the intercity bus network. Barons Bus offers ticketing options online, through ticketing agents, third party websites or in cash. (2) Barons Bus will operate four daily round-trip intercity bus schedules originating or ending in Charleston. The first route will start daily in Charleston and operate highway I-77 to both Ripley and Parkersburg continuation to Cleveland, OH . The second and third routes will start daily in Charleston and operate Highway I-79 or I-77 to Highway 50 to Highway 79 to Morgantown. The fourth route will start daily in Charlotte, NC to Huntington, WV and continue to Columbus, OH. The following locations will be offered service on 1 or more of the 4 routes; Charleston, Clendenin, Sutton, Flatwoods, Weston, Bridgeport, Clarksburg, Fairmont, Morgantown, Parkersburg, Ripley, Ellenboro, Huntington, Hurricane, Beckley. (3) Estimated cost of the project federal ($1,450,000) local match ($1,450,000) (4) No persons, families, or businesses will be displaced by this project (5) This proposed project will not have a significant environmental impact upon the service area. (6) The special needs of elderly and disabled passengers will be given special attention. All Barons Buses are ADA accessible. All disabled passengers who require ADA assistance will be given. Any special needs of elderly and or disabled passengers will be provided per normal operating procedures for passengers requiring assistance. (7) Barons Bus currently operates buses which are fully ADA equipped. Barons Bus is in full compliance with federal mandated ADA regulations and requirements of 5311 (f). (8) Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, no person shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under its program of transit service delivery and related benefits. If translation services of any type, written or oral, are needed, please contact Barons Bus Inc. Should any 49 U.S.C. Section 5311 capital funds become available, purchased equipment may include, but not be limited to: buses, vans or other paratransit vehicles, radios and communications equipment, passenger shelters, wheelchair lifts and restraints, computer hardware/software, spare parts or components, and other durable goods. Persons interested in holding a public hearing regarding the possible procurement of capital equipment must submit a written request within 15 days from the date of this notice. The purpose of this notice is to afford affected citizens, private transportation providers, and other interested agencies an early opportunity to examine the proposal and offer comments and/or recommendations on the overall scope of the proposed project. The grant proposal will be available for public inspection and comment for 15 days from the date of this notice.
