PUBLIC NOTICE OF CHANGE IN RATES UPON APPLICATION WITHOUT PROPOSED EFFECTIVE DATES NOTICE is hereby given that GAULEY RIVER PUBLIC SERVICE DISTRICT, a public utility (hereinafter the “District”), has on May 31, 2016 filed with the PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF WEST VIRGINIA, an application requesting authority for a two-step change in rates, tolls and charges for furnishing potable water service to 1,331 customers along State Route 39 between Gauley Bridge, Fayette County, and Summersville, Nicholas County, as well as along State Route 16 between Belva, Fayette County and Sangamore Road and Big Hollow Road, Clay County and in surrounding areas in Fayette, Nicholas, and Clay Counties. The proposed Step 1 increased rates and charges will produce approximately $203,118 annually in additional revenue, an increase of approximately 16.62{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} over existing rates and charges. Compared to current rates and charges, the average monthly bill for the various classes of customers under Step 1 rates will be changed as follows: The District does not currently have any resale customers. The increases shown above are based on averages of all customers in the indicated class. Each class may receive an increase or decrease greater or less than stated herein. Individual customers may receive increases that are greater or less than average. Furthermore, the requested rates and charges are only a proposal and are subject to change (increases or decreases) by the Public Service Commission in its review of this filing. Any increase in rates and charges will not become effective until authorized and approved by the Commission. (If a hearing is scheduled, notice will be given of the time and place of hearing.) Anyone desiring to protest or intervene in the District’s application should file a written protest or notice of intervention prior to July 20, 2016, unless otherwise modified by Commission order. Failure to timely protest or intervene can affect your rights to protest any rate increases and to participate in future proceedings. All protests or requests to intervene should briefly state the reason for the protest or intervention. Requests to intervene must comply with the Commission’s rule on intervention set forth in the Commission’s Rules of Practice and Procedure.
