CITY OF RONCEVERTE, a municipal
utility.
Investigation and suspension of increase in water rates and charges as a result of a petition filed in accordance with W.Va. Code § 24-2-4b.
NOTICE OF HEARING
On or about March 7, 2016, the City of Ronceverte (Ronceverte) adopted an ordinance increasing its water rates and charges to become effective April 21, 2016. The ordinance proposed a five step rate increase to occur between the effective date of the ordinance and June 1, 2019. Step 1 would have become effective on April 21, 2016 and increased rates 36.4{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. Step 2 would have become effective on December 1, 2016 and increased rates 14.1{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. Step 3 would have become effective on June 1, 2017 and increased rates 11.7{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. Step 4 would have become effective on June 1, 2018 and increased rates 8.1{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}. Step 5 would have become effective on June 1, 2019 and increased rates 6.5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}.
On March 18, 2016, the Com-mission received a Petition of protest apparently signed by not less than twenty-five percent of Ronceverte’s water customers.
On March 21, 2016, the Com-mission invoked its jurisdiction and made Ronceverte a Respondent.
The matter has been set for hearing on June 22, 2016, at 1:30 PM., at Ronceverte City Hall, in Council Chambers, 200 West Main Street, Ronceverte, WV. Interested individuals may appear at the hearing and be heard regarding the proposed increase. Individuals may also mail written comments to the Commission by mailing the comments to the Executive Secretary, PO Box 812, Charleston, WV 25323 on or before June 22, 2016.
Rates ultimately approved by the Commission for the City of Ronceverte may be less than, the same as or more than adopted by the City of Ronceverte.
