REQUEST FOR BIDS
Fairmont State University invites qualified businesses to submit a bid to provide all work, including but not limited to labor, material, equipment, supplies and transportation for COLLEGE APARTMENT HOUSING PROJECT located at 1201 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554. All work shall be in accordance with the drawings and project manual prepared by McKinley & Associates. Bidding Documents may be obtained from:

Cost of Bidding Documents: $320 per set, plus any shipping and handling fees. Fee is non-refundable. Documents may be downloaded by contacting the Architect at the email address below and providing the following information.

The Pre-Bid Meeting is MANDATORY. All bidders must attend the Pre-Bid Meeting to familiarize themselves with the Project location, site conditions, and other relevant information.

Addenda will be forwarded to Pre-Bid attendees via the email address provided at the Pre-Bid Meeting. Addenda will NOT be automatically issued to bidders who request to download the documents.

Bids must be submitted on the FORM OF PROPOSAL included in the PROJECT MANUAL.
Description of Work
The project includes the demolition of four wood frame 3 story apartment buildings after the construction of a new housing complex of an existing parking lot. The new structure consists of two four story light gage metal and steel frame buildings with CMU stair and elevator towers. The structure is two buildings linked with a glass enclosed connector. A third building on the site is three stories and is constructed of the same materials. The total square footage of all of the structures is 95,360 SF. Once the new structures have been completed, the existing apartment buildings will be demolished and new parking lots will be built on the site of the former apartment buildings.
A certified check in the amount of five percent (5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}) of the total Bid, or a satisfactory Bid Bond furnished by a solvent surety company authorized to do business in the state of West Virginia in an amount equal to five percent (5{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c}) of the total Bid must be submitted with each Bid.
The successful Bidder will be required to execute a contract and provide a Performance Bond, Labor and Material Payment Bond for 100{4ceb532c6f579389df471c6c1e832caf2346b74dc60fcbf6aabd4d29df3baf9c} of the contract award and, if applicable, a two (2) year roofing Maintenance Bond for the value of the roofing system.
West Virginia Code § 21-11-2 requires that all persons desiring to perform contractual work in West Virginia must be duly licensed. All General Contractors shall include their license number in the space provided on the Bid Form. It shall be the General Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that all subcontractors are duly licensed to perform work with the State of West Virginia.
An executed WV Drug Free Workplace Conformance Affidavit and Purchasing Affidavit must be included in the proposal.
