Election to Authorize Additional Levies
According to the Order of The Board of Education
of the County of Greenbrier entered on December 14, 2017
An election to authorize levies for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2019, July 1, 2020, July 1, 2021, July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023, in the total amount of $5,978,119 annually, for the purpose and approximate amounts for which such funds are needed, as follows:

FUNDS ARE NEEDED EACH PURPOSE
School safety and security improvements, including, but not limited to, $ 350,000
security services, equipment and related support services for students.
Provide assistance with the purchase of instructional materials, $ 750,000
technology and related resources.
Continuation of Arts and Music Programs available to all students. $ 300,000
School allotments and supplies, including, without limitation, lab $ 750,000
supplies.
Provide funds to facilitate extended year and extracurricular programs. $ 250,000
Capital improvements to school facilities, including repair and $ 1,700,000
maintenance of buildings and utilities.
Provide for the employment of necessary personnel outside the school $ 1,878,119
aid formula to meet the needs of students and maintain employee benefits.
ANNUAL TOTAL $ 5,978,119
The proposed rate of levy in cents (per $100 of assessed value) on each class of property within School District for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 2019, July 1, 2020, July 1, 2021, July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023, is as follows:
Class I 11.475 Cents
Class II 22.950 Cents
Class III 45.900 Cents
Class IV 45.900 Cents
The total approximate amount necessary to carry out the above purposes, after making reasonable allowances for uncollected taxes and shrinkage is $5,978,119 annually, or a total approximate amount for the five-year period of $29,890,595.
In the event The Board of Education of the County of Greenbrier shall obtain additional money by grant or otherwise from the state or federal government, or from any agency of either, or from any other source, for the purposes aforesaid, such additional money may be used either in substitution for, or in addition to, the sums obtained from such additional levies as The Board of Education of the County of Greenbrier may determine from time to time, in its discretion.
The Board is hereby authorized and empowered to expend, during the term of this levy and one additional year, the surplus, if any, accruing during the term of this levy in excess of the amounts needed for any of the above-stated purposes, for the enrichment, supplementation, and advancement of all education programs in Greenbrier County, and other purposes pertinent to the operation of the schools within the School District, as Board may determine from time to time, in its discretion. For any given fiscal year, if excess levy revenues are less than the amounts allocated for the above stated-purposes, then the Board, in its discretion, shall allocate such shortfall to one or more of the above-stated purposes.
