For Modification of a Dam
Notice is hereby given that Timberline Association, Inc., has applied for approval to modify the Sand Run Dam, located on the Sand Run tributary of Blackwater River, 9.5 miles upstream of Davis, Tucker County, West Virginia.
Modifications that will be performed include: (1) raising the auxiliary spillway crest elevation by one foot and (2) slip lining the existing corrugated metal riser and outlet pipe with a high-density polyethylene system. Upon completion of these modifications, the dam will remain 19.5 feet in total dam height with a maximum storage volume of 776 acre-feet of water. The capacity of the dam to store or discharge rainfall will remain 4.7 inches in a six-hour period. The dam has a hazard potential classification of “3” meaning that loss of human life is unlikely if the dam were to fail.
The land surface covered by this application is owned by the Timberline Association, Inc., and legal right to conduct operations is by deed. The dam is owned by the Timberline Association, Inc.

Any person who may be adversely affected by issuance of a Certificate of Approval may request a hearing, provided that such request be in writing, contain specific objections to the issuance of the Certificate of Approval and be received by the Dam Safety Section within fifteen (15) days of this publication.
