NOTICE OF FILING OF ADOPTION PETITION
To: Donald Brown, or ANY OTHER PERSON CLAIMING PATERNITY OF B.A.M., the minor child, born August, 1, 2016, in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that, pursuant to the provisions of W.Va. Code §48-22-101, et seq., a petition for adoption of your child, B.A.M. has been filed in the Circuit Court of ROANE County, West Virginia. The petition alleges that you are the child’s biological father and that you have abandoned her.
You are advised that your parental rights to this child may be terminated in the adoption proceeding. If you wish to assert or exercise your parental rights to said child, you must appear and defend the petition on or before February 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. or within thirty (30) days following the first publication of this notice, whichever date is later. Your failure to appear and defend with result in permanent termination of your parental rights, and you may not appear in or receive further notice of the adoption proceedings.
You are further notified that a final adoption hearing will be held on February 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, before the Honorable Circuit Judge Anita Ashley, at the Roane County Courthouse, Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia, 25276, and if it be necessary, the petitioner will then and there move the appointment of a discrete and suitable person to serve as Next Friend for your child, to consent to the child’s adoption.
