NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF THE
UNITED METHODIST
CHURCH PROPERTY
(Slate Chapel
United Methodist Church, Wood County)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after January 31, 2023 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Laurie D. Cowart and Norman E. Cowart all of their right, title and interest in and to a certain lot, parcel of real estate situate, lying and being in Slate District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:
BEGINNING at a stone running 70 yd. N.E. to a stake thence N.W. 70 yd. to a pine, thence S.E. 70 yd. to an ash, and thence 70 yd. to the beginning, containing and laid out for one acre of land.
And being the same property conveyed to Washington Berry etals, Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church from Thomas P. Berry etux by deed dated May 25, 1854 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book 17, at Page 294, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Slate Chapel United Methodist Church was declared closed effective on November 4, 2022 by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
