Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number O000183 issued for 28.8 acres.
The permit is located in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, 2.5 miles east of Slab Fork on Winding Gulf of Upper Guyandotte River.
Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 08/09/2022 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $76,032.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until February 8, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
