NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(PLEASANT HILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH)
Notice is hereby given that Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after May 3, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to Pleasant Hill Community Church, all of their right, title and interest in and to the following lots or parcels of real estate situate, lying and being in Lubeck District and Tygart District, Wood County, West Virginia, described as follows:
PARCEL ONE
Beginning in the line of William T. Cook and George Cox at a stake and running thence North 75 deg. West 9 poles to a chestnut oak tence South 5 deg. West 18 poles and 30 lines to a stake in said Cook and Cox’s line thence with said line E. 8 poles to the beginning containing one acre be the same more or less.
And being the same property conveyed from William T. and Martha Ann Cook to Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church by Deed dated October 16, 1858 and recorded in theh Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Wood County, West Virginia in Deed Book 19, at Page 447, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL TWO
BEGINNING at a stake in the forks of the Missouri Run and Parkersburg Roads near the Pleasant Hill meeting house from thence S. 4 ½ * W. two poles and 14 links to a stake, thence N. 82 E. eleven poles and eleven links to a stake, thence N. 6 ½ W. six poles to a stake and pine on the bank of the Road, thence S. 63 ½ W. nine poles and five links to the beginning containing Forty-four poles.
And being the same property conveyed from William T. and Martha A. Cook to Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church by Deed dated December 22, 1881 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s office in Deed Book 58, at Page 454, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL THREE
BEGINNING at a southwest corner of old church lot; thence S. 9 ½ * E. 1 pole o a stone; thence N. 83 E. 20 poles to stone; thence N. 5 ½ * W. 7 poles to stone by side of Missouri run road; thence S 83 W. 8 poles and 17 links to N. East corner of old church lot; thence S. 5 ½ E. 6 poles to S. East corner of old church lot; thence S. 83* W. 11 poles and 11 links to the place of beginning, containing 71 poles be the same more or less.
And being the same property conveyed from W. T. Cook to Trustees of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Episcopal Church by Deed dated June 7, 1907 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s office in Deed Book 145, at Page 380, reference to which is hereby made.
PARCEL FOUR
Beginning at a point on the southerly side of the Pleasant Hill Road where the westerly line of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery intersects said roadway; thence S.15* 45′ W. 283.84 feet to a post; thence at right angles N. 65* 15 W. 101.25 feet to an iron rod thence at right angles N. 15* 45′ E. 268 feet to an iron rod on the south side of the Pleasant Hill road; Thence at right angles S.74* 15′ E.100 feet to the place of beginning and containing .63 acres, more or less. And being part of the same real estate as conveyed unto Harry A. Shultz and Clara Shultz by deed bearing date the 12th day August,1944, and of record in the Office of the Clerk of the County Couty of Wood County, West Virginia in deed book No. 261 at page 415. The said Harry Shultz being deceased and by his last will and testament conveyed all of his interest to his surviving widow, the grantor herein, Clara Shultz.
And being the same property conveyed from Clara Shultz to Trustees of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church by Deed dated December 19, 1974 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s office in Deed Book 647, at Page 258, reference to which is hereby made.
Said Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church was declared closed effective March 31, 2024 by resolution of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
