Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application for RENEWAL of Quarry Article 4 Permit Number Q300305 to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 in order to remove sandstone by conducting quarrying operations. The operation is discharging into Lefthand Fork of Tommy Creek of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Guyandotte River of Ohio River and is located 2.0 miles southwest of Josephine in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81° 15’ 09” and Latitude 37° 35’ 52” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
Written comments on the Article 4 Quarry Permit Renewal Application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until December 24, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until December 14, 2024, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
