Notice is hereby given that ELK RUN COAL COMPANY, LLC, PO BOX 457, 370 PACKSVILLE MARFORK ROAD, WHITESVILLE, WV 25209 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 22.8 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP,1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U301894 to maintain and operate a deep mine a related facilities in the Alma seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Laurel Branch of Clear Fork of Big Coal River of Little Coal River of Kanawha River and is located 0.50 miles, northeast of Dorothy in Clear Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81o 27’ 15” and Latitude 37 o 58’ 14” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify theapplicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until March 9, 2025, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
