Notice is hereby given that GREENBRIER SMOKELESS COAL MINING, LLC, 4547 Anjean Road, Rupert, WV 25984 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S300314 Increment Number 2 issued for 68.78 acres.
The permit is located in Meadow Bluff District of Greenbrier County, 5.7 miles northeast of Quinwood on unnamed tributaries of/and Brown Creek and unnamed tributaries of/and Sam Creek, all of Big Creek of Meadow River of Gauley River.
GREENBRIER SMOKELESS COAL MINING, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 04/22/2023 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $165,600.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until May 5, 2025, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
