REQUEST FOR BIDS Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation in partnership with the West Virginia Scenic Trails Association with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration’s Federal Lands Access Program via the West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways is accepting sealed bids from experienced trail construction contractors for the construction of a reroute of the multi-use Allegheny Trail southbound of Durbin in Pocahontas County West Virginia. The new alignment will be 0.67 miles with grades below 10 percent. Installation of grade reversals will improve drainage and reduce soil erosion to result in a safer experience for users. A mandatory bid meeting will be held at the Allegheny Trail Durbin Trailhead on April 18, 2025 at 11 am. NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS To maintain necessary clearances for safe and reliable electric service, Appalachian Power Company plans to manage vegetation along the Milton-Johns Creek Rd. portion of its 12kV distribution system in Cabell, Mason and Putnam Counties in WV. On or about March 17, 2025, contract crews will begin to trim and remove trees and brush and apply herbicides along our rights-of-way. Work will be done in accordance with International Society of Arboriculture guidelines and take into account factors such as tree species, growth characteristics, line voltage, etc. In unmaintained or undeveloped areas, cuttings will remain on site to minimize soil disturbance and to promote biodegradation.
