NOTICE TO POTOMAC EDISON CUSTOMERS WITH RIGHTS-OF-WAY ACROSS THEIR PROPERTY
Potomac Edison has contracted to maintain portions of its rights-of-way with an aerial saw consisting of approximately ten 24-inch rotary blades powered by a motor and suspended on a vertical boom beneath a helicopter. This maintenance method allows for the quick, safe, and efficient trimming of trees along our transmission lines. The aerial saw will be operating March through September 2025 in the following counties in West Virginia:
Mineral, Hampshire, Morgan, and Berkeley Counties (#544 Line, Black Oak to Bedington 500 kV)A 500 kV line originating at the Black Oak Substation in Maryland and running in a southeasterly direction. The line crosses the N. Branch of the Potomac River into Mineral Co., WV, Rt. 8, Rt. 9, Rt. 10, Patterson Creek, Rt. 46, Rt. 28/5, Rt. 28, Rt.17, Rt. 19 and into Hampshire Co., WV. In Hampshire Co., the line crosses Rt. 1, the S. Branch of the Potomac River, Rt. 1/1, Rt. 5, the Little Cacapon River, Rt. 3, Rt. 2, Rt. 2/3, Rt 29/1, SR 29, Cacapon River and continues into Morgan Co., WV. In Morgan Co., WV the line crosses US 522, CR 38/10, CR 28, CR 13, CR 8, CR 8/13, CR 8/3 and continues in to Berkeley Co., WV. In Berkeley Co., the line crosses Crossroad School Rd, Back Creek Valley Rd, over Back Creek, CR 9/9, CR 9/10, SR 9, CR 4, CR 1, CR 8, CR 1/17, Interstate 81, US 11, and ends at Bedington Substation.
